Emmanuel Lewis Eat Your Heart Out

Do you remember the 1980's sitcom "Webster"? In season 2, Webster and his adopted parents moved into an old Victorian house that had some rockin' secret passageways. Ever since I watched that show, I have dreamed of living in a house with secret passageways. I have imagined myself climbing hidden ladders and stealthy moving from one room to the next. I would play hide and seek everyday if I had secret passageways in my house. I think I would even invite some of my "grown up" friends over to play hide and seek and not tell them about the passageways. I would be king of hide and seek.

I started looking into these the other day and found that their is a company based in Tempe that specializes in creating secret passageways in houses. You can check them out here: www.hiddenpassageway.com.
They were featured in a spot on CNBC's "On the Money". Here's the video:

I would love to have the lifting staircase to play into my "let's repeat cool things that we've seen on TV shows" theme. This way I can have a staircase like the Munsters had, only without Spot, the fire breathing dragon, living underneath. Although it would also be cool to have a fire breathing dragon. Well, maybe not so much in southern AZ, since he might start a wild land fire and then we would have to sell him or worse yet give him away.

Anyway, Scott and I have talked about digging tunnels between our houses so that the cousins can go back and forth between the houses. They would also make it handy for sneaking out of the house in case some unwanted visitors arrive unexpectedly. We could incorporate the entrances to the tunnels into the secret passageways.

The possibilities are endless, with only my pocketbook and my CFO to bound the fullfilment of my fantasy.

When I was growing up, we played at the castle in Vail. They had tons of secret hiding places and secret passageways. It was really cool. Even their bedrooms were all hidden behind moveable walls. It was awesome. There were lots of fun times in those passageways.

I have heard that Webster isn't doing that well as an adult. Lots of money problems. He did recently get married to some white chick that is about two feet taller and twenty years younger!

Good luck digging through the dirt!!
