I took the Friday before Thanksgiving off so I could go down to the county to get the electrical permit for our well. I didn't get down there until the afternoon because I was waiting for my well guy down at Sun Pumps to get back to me with amp draw info on the well pump and booster pumps. When I got down there, I went to the building review desk first. They helped me fill out a form with all the necessary info and then asked me for my permit number. I said "I don't have a permit number that's why I am down here." I guess I started at the wrong end of the buffet table. I tried to get the dessert before picking up the plate and plastic ware. They politely pointed me in the direction of the permit application desk and probably had a smug grin on their faces as I turned around and headed towards the correct desk.
The lady at the permit application desk started asking me for all the information and when she asked for the property address I gave her my address. As she entered it into the computer, I thought I should clarify that the well is physically on Scott's property. That was when I heard the first "Oh". "Oh, you need a letter of authorization from your brother to allow you to request a ppermit for his property" said the nice lady. As I filled the letter out and called Scott to work out getting his signature on the form the second "Oh" of the day came ringing out from the next desk over. "Oh, since that well will service more than one property, it is not considered a well, but a 'water pumping station'. That's a seperate permiting process" said the less than nice lady from the other desk. The first lady finished the necessary paperwork and sent me over to the site review counter.
I supplied all the necesarry info at the site review desk and that lady said, "Let me get 'Jimmy'(I don't remember his name)." So Jimmy came out and started explaining the process for the water pumping station. That's when the third and most painful "Oh" was exclaimed. "Oh, that process takes 3 - 4 months (MONTHS) to complete" said Jimmy from behind his counter.
I sure wish I would have known that three months ago so I could have been completing that process now. Luckilly we can get the electrical permit for it to be a well to service only Scott's lot until we get the "water pumping station" process completed but, unfortunately, we don't live on Scott's lot. So it will be three to four more months until we have running water. Atleast we won't have to drive into Tucson to fill up our water tanks anymore.
