Two posts in a row with lousy cliches for titles. The renters that we had at the time of the previous post are no longer going to rent the house. They were coming in from Virginia but they didn't get the job in Tucson, so no deal. We're back in the hunt for renters or buyers so, if you know of someone looking to rent or buy, send them our way.
You need to check out Lesley's blog to hear about our adventure with the Humane Society of Southern Arizona (They are on our black list right now).
We had our first attempt at sleeping
in a tent last night. I picked up the smaller of the two tents that we received from the scout council. Rick Franco and I inspected it and found out that it is the GP Small Tent. I brought it home and decided to set it up to make sure we had all of the poles and to assess the state of the canvas. The instructions say that it should take 30 minutes for 4 men to put it up. I got it up in about 45 minutes all by myself.

The best part is that it only cost me the gas to Drive to Rick's house and back to pick it up. There are two pretty good sized tears in the roof but, they will patch up nicely with a patch kit. It came with the cold weather liner in it and I almost roasted while I was inside the tent removing it.
Knowing that I was going to pick up the tent in the evening, I told the kids that we could camp
out in the backyard last night. My backup plan was to sleep in one of our dome tents, but my plan was to sleep in our future home (a part of it at least). I got the tent setup and even convinced Lesley to sleep out there with us. We were all out there except Parkin. He was in his crib in his room. We opened his window so we could hear him if he needed us in the middle of the night. It was great fun to read scriptures and a little in the Little House on the Prairie book that the Clarks got us for Christmas. I slept without a blanket and I actually got a little chilly in the morning. I can't wait until we're out on the land living free!

Way to go! now you have a taste of what's to come. With any kind of luck the monsoons won't be as bad out there in the hills so you won't have horizontal rain washing you down the wash...GH
How are we going to miss this? I want to be able to tell people--yeah, we're going to my brother-in-law's tent for dinner--a little goat cheese and whatnot. Your kids are going to have the best memories to share ever.
