I have stepped up the intensity of my search for a trailer. I looked at one today near Columbus and Speedway. It is a 1971 Forester that is parked in a small trailer park. The nice thing about it is that it has been lived in so everything in it works. There is another one that we want to look at in St David. We have been corresponding through email with the seller and we might make a run down there this Friday to take a look.
We are looking to spend only a couple grand on the trailer so we are not going to get anything
high-end. We just want something clean and livable. Oh yeah, did I mention that the one at Columbus and Speedway is too short for me to stand up in. I had to tilt my head to the side the whole time I was in there and I had to pay careful attention to where the roof mounted A/C was. Lesley says that the inability to stand up straight puts that trailer in the unlivable category.I am very anxious to set up the tent so I can get a fell for its enormity (or lack thereof). I still haven't figured out what to do for a floor. I might break down and build a 16' x 32' deck to put it on. I am trying to stay away from putting up anything permanent now so I do not have to get permits.
I have been researching power pedestals, like the one on the right. I am hoping to get everything set up before we head out there for good so we don't have to spend the first several weeks without power. I also want to get everything ready because we will be going out there in the thick of our monsoon season. Yes we do get rain here in Arizona. We get a whole year's worth of rain in about three months so our storms are pretty big. If you don't believe me just check out the video I found on youtube:
I just love that song!
With these latest developments, Lesley and I get to start two adventures at the same time. The first being living in a tent. The second is our dabble in the realms of slum-lordship. Here's to insanity!

You'll need to talk to Deryk but he mentioned to me that there was a huge pile of plywood at work that will just get thown away if no one takes it.
Once again, you'll have to talk to Deryk, but what about using something like that metal stuff that Deryk used in our hallway for your floor??? That way you could get it up off of the ground so there wouldn't be bugs!!
Good luck-
Here is to jumping off the cliff into the abyss, I hope there is a soft landing :)
I suggest building the deck and putting the 6 inch pier blocks under (that doesn't put you in the permanent relm does it? It gets you 6 more inches away from the crawly things on the ground. Also use 3/4" plywood no skimping here even though you only plan for a short stay 1/2 inch won't hack it.
Have fun.
