Talkin' bout My Girl

Last Saturday, after Bella finished her spectacular performance in the city swim meet, we took the crew over to Petsmart to see if there were any dogs available for adoption. We have been looking for some time now for either an Australian Shepherd or a Labrador and Petsmart had a litter of lab mixes. We had them pull out several of the puppies and the kids choose this pretty little girl named Lacey. While I filled out the paperwork and paid the adoption fees, Lesley and the kids shopped for some puppy necessities. The kids picked out the collar. They said it is cute but not too girly.

So it's always good to get a new dog (puppy for that matter) when you are packing up and getting ready to live in a tent and trailer. Luckily this girl came pad trained and has had relatively few accidents for being ten weeks old.

Lacey is a Lab/Chow mix and she is already exhibiting some Chow characteristics. She has taken a liking to me and pretty much ignores the rest of the family. She hides out in my bedroom during the day then comes running out to greet me when I get home. Lesley was at her wit's end and was ready to send her back, but Lacey is starting to warm up to the rest of the family. Lesley has been taking her for short walks and working on heeling and sitting. It looks like Lacey will earn her spot in the family.

We are going tomorrow to see an Australian Shepherd named Cash. We found him on Pet Finder. He is four years old and handsome as all get out. He is a tri-color Aussie and I think those are some of the best looking dogs out there. They want us to bring Lacey with us to see how they interact. We are hoping it works out because we really want to have two dogs running around.

If your song to Lacey is "Talking about My Girl" Than Lacey's song to you is "You are my only one" (James Taylor). Who knew the sun rises again at 5 o'clock. Man that dog loves, we do to :)

Babs tells me she (Lacey, not Babs) only pooped inside our house once when you stayed here last week so you are always welcome to come back and stay with us anytime!
