We left Wednesday afternoon around 4 PM MST and arrived in Bountiful at 6 AM MDT. That is a killer drive but we kept the kids entertained with books on tape/CD and they slept for almost the whole second half of the trip.
We spent Thursday at the Hogle Zoo and all we saw were two animals. Luckily we got in free on Nana's grandparent pass from the Reid Park Zoo. Reid Park and Hogle are sister zoos so they accept each other's passes. We did get to see the "Ghost of the Bayou" which is Holman's favorite.

Friday we had a pancake breakfast with Ryan and Lindsey's ward. Holman got soaked in the sprinklers within 5 minutes of arriving. Luckily the weather was nice and he dried off pretty quickly. The food was great and the had lots of fun activities for the kids. They had potato sack races:
bobbing for apples (the second pic is of my niece Madison and nephew Simon. They are two in the center around the tub):

And best of all - a water rocket launcher:
I saw that and immediately thought that I need to build one to use out on the homestead. We could have hours of fun launching those puppies. We used those for an activity at Wood Badge, but we only used hand pumps. These guys were smart and used an air compressor. When we got back to the Smith's house, I did a little research and found some plans on instructables.com. These plans show how to make a release mechanism so you don't have to hold the bottle on with your hands. There a few mods I am going to make and I will post some video of my own launcher once I get it built. Lesley has reminded me that the launcher is pretty low on the priority list so it might be a while.
We then went and spent the rest of the day in Park City with Lesley's Aunt Janette and her family at their time share. We didn't go to see the fireworks, but we could see them from the patio. We had a blast swimming and hiking. Holman was swimming like a piranha. There was a theater room where we watched movies and a play room where Uncle JC showed off his juggling skills:

Good times, after seeing the video Bella says JC is the coolest. It was a great weekend. Oh that drive........ :)
Oh the fun! John is still sick...yay. Our drive wasn't too bad but we were exhausted when we got home! I love that John has a video on your blog! Thanks for stepping it up and actually taking pictures, we made it home with 2 shots of Collin in the pool. Maybe we'll do better next time.
We missed you in Sierra Vista but I'm kinda glad it will be our last 4th there. The Army band didn't do much and the sound system was so lame we barely heard the ONE song Jer sang. The band didn't even play the 1812 Overture. It was recorded but they still had the howitzers from the post. The fireworks were almost too much and the dopey announcer makes me want to vomit. Plus we about killed your mom's car cutting between the ball fields and running over a curb to get out of the place. Who knows, maybe next year we'll be in Tennessee.
